Roadworks to begin in Finchampstead Road on Monday

By Jon Nurse
March 01, 2013

Resurfacing work is set to disrupt traffic using Finchampstead Road from Monday.

Three phases of works taking place between 9.30am and 4pm are expected to continue until next Sunday. Work between the road’s junctions with Sandhurst Road and Windsor Ride is due to start on Monday and run until next Thursday.

Traffic must travel via Sandhurst Road and Nine Mile Ride to Finchampstead Road during the work, or this route in reverse.

The resurfacing is scheduled to continue between the junctions with Nine Mile Ride and Windsor Ride on Friday, March 8.

Traffic will be diverted via Nine Mile Ride and Sandhurst Road to Finchampstead Road, or the reverse.

The road will then be closed between its junctions with Nine Mile Ride and the Avery Corner car park on Sunday, March 10 when work should be completed on the same day.

Drivers will be diverted via Jubilee Road, The Ridges, Wellingtonia Avenue, Lower Wokingham Road and Nine Mile Ride, or the reverse.

Access to homes will be maintained at all times, though residents are warned it will be difficult to move vehicles at times. Neighbours will be advised of times when the road will need to be clear of cars for the works.

Previously this work was scheduled to be done at night, presumably because of the traffic disruption it would cause and despite the higher cost. Now it's mysteriously OK to do it during the day. Both judgements can't have been right, I guess we'll find out which is the hard way!
