Crowthorne Parish Council forced to make cuts to balance budget

By Becky Barnes
February 26, 2013

Major cuts have been made by Crowthorne Parish Council to ensure a break-even budget for the next financial year.

Councillors agreed to reduce grants and slash reserves when they finalised the 2013/14 budget at their meeting on Tuesday, February 5. Cllr Richard Price said: “We have had to make some changes to the budget for the year, with major cutting of expenditure.”

The budget’s aim was not to increase the precept of £70 for a category D home.

Decisions included not to give a £5,000 grant to South Hill Park arts centre in Bracknell, and to slash grants given to charities and organisations by £2,100.

Councillors voted in favour of a slight increase in money to go to the Morgan Centre to refurbish its kitchen and offices, and an increase for tree management at the Morgan Recreation Ground.

"an increase for tree management at the Morgan Recreation Ground" because the bl*&%y Hope Zone undertook an exhaustive tree survey there as part of their vociferous and forceful attempt to extend their work there!! They should be paying for this NOT CPC!!
