Mayors get their hands dirty as work on new medical centre begins

Wokingham mayors Councillor Bob Wyatt and Cllr Peter Lucey picked up their shovels as work started on the town’s new medical centre.

The borough and town mayors took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for Tudor House and Rectory Road practices’ new medical centre in Rose Street on Thursday, February 14.

John Youle, director of building company Beard, said: “As we have to finish the project before Christmas 2013 to ensure the new premises are open on time, the schedule is tight to integrate the new structure with the existing building.

“However, with our 120 years of experience, I am confident our team will fit out the whole facility with prompt and faultless delivery to the required specification.”

The new site will offer better facilities for patients including improved access, larger and more comfortable waiting areas, better clinical rooms and a lift.
