Valentine's Day meant more than hearts and flowers for one Wokingham family this year – when a much-loved great grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday.
Dorine Thomson was born on February 14, 1913, and as a child she enjoyed dancing and performing in school and the theatre.
She later worked as a buyer, mainly in children’s wear.
Daughter Cathy Scott said: “She has always loved young children and fostered for a while.” Last year, at the age of 99, Mrs Thomson moved to Glebelands Care Home, in Woolf Drive off Acorn Drive, which is part of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.
Among its residents are former stars of the small and silver screen.
Mrs Scott, who was at the birthday party with her children and grandchildren, among many others, said: “She is very content in the home, where the staff are welcoming and ready to help.”
