Police are warning drivers to secure their cars after a spate of break-ins across the borough.

Five vehicles were targeted in Arborfield and had items stolen from them when cars were left unlocked last Wednesday night.

Police are also appealing for information after a car left unlocked in Sewell Avenue, Emmbrook, had items stolen from the inside overnight on Monday, January 28.

A car parked in Dinton Pastures Country Park had the rear passenger window smashed and a handbag stolen on Monday, January 28.

Police are also investigating the theft of a badge from the front of a parked VW Golf in Bridport Close, Lower Earley, on Monday. They believe it was removed with a screwdriver as marks were left around the grille.

Reports have been made of tyres being slashed on a van parked in Grovelands Avenue, Winnersh, between Friday, January 11 and Friday, January 25.

Anyone with details about this incident should call police on 101 quoting URN 379 29/1 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

@Br - yes, laughing as they put your premium up too for living in the same "high crime" area.

   Love the headline!

Shame on the criminals and shame on those who fund them by leaving their cars unlocked. The insurance companies are bound to be laughing.

I find it hard to sympathise with people who leave their cars unlocked with valuables inside them, and then find that these things are stolen...

I mean, as much as this is a nice part of the country, and in an ideal world we wouldn't need locks, this is the real world and it takes milliseconds to lock your car.
