Fancy a piglet as a pet? Head to Stokes Farm
By Laura HerbertJanuary 25, 2013
This cute litter of piglets is looking for a new home.
The 11 Kunekune piglets were born at Stokes Farm around five months ago but are now in need of re-homing.
The farm has 25,000 free range hens and supplies eggs to supermarkets, pubs and restaurants but staff found themselves looking after the piglets after the farm’s pet boar, Mr D, escaped and ran into the female pen.
All three of the farm’s sows – Vanessa, Prudence and Penelope – fell pregnant a produced a litter of 13. Nicola Ward, from the farm in Binfield Road, said: “We had 13 in the litter and two have been re-homed.
“It would be ideal if they could go somewhere with quite a bit of land and to someone who can take on two piglets. They are really social so can be in groups but they need to at least be in pairs.”
Anyone interested in giving a new home to the piglets can call the farm on (0118) 977 3427 or visit www.stokesfarm.co.uk.
