Station link road given green light

By Jon Nurse
January 17, 2013

A link road connecting Wokingham's train station with the A329 Reading Road has been given the green light.

Planning permission was granted for the station link road by Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee yesterday evening.

The new link road is the key element in the multi-million scheme to redevelop the town’s train station into a 21st century travel centre, ease traffic congestion and improve provision for pedestrians and cyclists.

Preparatory work will now start and last until the early summer, with main work expected to start in early autumn.

Network Rail’s contractor is due to start on the new station building in the next few weeks.

another chance to sort out the chaos around the station has been missed.when will these planners get out and have a real look at the traffic in rush hour around the station and town centre.
