Shoppers raise cash for homeless animals

By Jon Nurse
January 04, 2013

Kind-hearted shoppers dug deep to donate food for homeless animals.

Staff from Emmview Veterinary Centre collected donations of dog and cat food outside Morrisons supermarket in Woosehill for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Rosie Skinner, head vet at Emmview Veterinary Centre, said: “Christmas is always a difficult time for animal homes, so it is great to see the public’s enthusiasm in wanting to help out during this tough period.”

The vets took the chance to discuss whether the holiday season was the best time to buy a new pet.

“Our best advice is to introduce the idea of a new pet at Christmas time, but to proceed carefully,” the head vet added. “This will give everyone enough time to reflect on the choices and allow you to plan appropriately in the New Year.”
