More road closures as rain continues

By Jon Nurse
December 22, 2012

Persistent showers have forced roads to close on one of the busiest days of the year for the borough's transport network.

Half a dozen roads are temporarily closed as shoppers race to town for last minute buys and families drive home for Christmas.

Mill Lane in Winnersh is closed between Mole Road and Lower Earley Way together with Emmbrook Road in Wokingham, Sandford Lane in Woodley, Church Lane and Kybes Lane in Shinfield and Remenham Lane in Remenham.

The Loddon Bridge Park and Ride remains closed along with the Lands End ford in Park Lane, Charvil.

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for the Lower River Loddon, Emm Brook and the River Thames at Shiplake, Lower Shiplake and Wargrave.

The Met Office has forecast heavy rain all day, with more showers expected on Sunday and Monday before the possibility of light rain on Christmas Day.
