Shoppers enjoy festive treats in Crowthorne
December 12, 2012
The High Street was lit up by Christmas lights when shoppers gathered to enjoy a well-established date in Crowthorne’s festive calendar.
Hundreds of villagers and visitors browsed shops and stalls at the Crowthorne Traders’ Association’s late night shopping evening on Friday.
Sarah Sandle, marketing coordinator of Crowthorne Traders’ Association, said: “It was a great opportunity for the traders to say thank you for custom in last 12 months.
“Times continue to be hard for local businesses but they offer something a bit different by going the extra mile with the personal service you don’t get in big businesses.”
Hats and scarves were mandatory for the chilly evening but traders were pleased there was no rain – and there were lots of places to keep warm, including a fully-booked Santa’s Grotto.
Father Christmas was assisted by three elves and there were 10 stalls spread along Crowthorne High Street, as well as music throughout the event.
Sarah added “There was a real buzz with lots of families and the feedback from people was really good.
“People like to support local businesses as well as enjoy the free drinks and nibbles on offer.”
Dopson Butchers offered pudding and pie while Sarai gave out goodie bags.
Newmans had a Nirvana Spa representative in the shop and new salon Serenity Place handed out discount vouchers.
