Free flu jabs available across borough

By Jon Nurse
December 10, 2012

Free flu vaccinations are available from six community pharmacies in the borough, helping protect those most at risk.

People aged between 16 and 64 with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, liver and kidney disease, as well as pregnant women and carers, can take advantage of the offer until the end of January.

Pharmacies offering the service are: Boots in Market Place, Wokingham, Day Lewis in London Road, Twyford, Lloyds Pharmacy in Library Parade, Woodley, Lloyds Pharmacy in Victoria Road, Wargrave, Newdays in London Road, Twyford, and Tesco in Finchampstead Road, Wokingham.

Carol Trower, chief executive of Berkshire’s Local Pharmaceutical Committee, said: “We encourage people most at risk from flu to take advantage of this opportunity to get vaccinated – remember, flu can lead to serious complications, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, and can make existing conditions much worse.”
