Police are still searching for an elderly man who went missing from his home in Woodley last month.

Franciscus Van De Gender, known as Franz, was reported missing at around 9am on Friday, November 23.

Officers found the 91-year-old's Ford Escort car on the towpath a short time later and investigations revealed he arrived in Sonning at around 1.30am the same day.

Sgt Brian Millar, from Loddon Valley police station, said: “Police have searched extensively for Mr Van De Gender, particularly along the river between Sonning and Henley.

“These searches are continuing and the force’s Specialist Search and Recovery Team (SSRT) will be in the water over the next few days.

“We continue to ask for anyone with any information about Mr Van De Gender’s disappearance to come forward.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
