Community champion Pat Rowell recieves Borough Mayor's award

A community champion was recognised for years of dedicated work of helping to improve Winnersh, with a Wokingham Borough Mayor’s Award.

Pat Rowell, chairwoman of Winnersh Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG), collected the award from Councillor Bob Wyatt at Wokingham Library.

Her nominee Joyce Stoner, Wokingham borough libraries administrator, said: “We wanted to thank Pat and acknowledge her tireless hard work over many years to make Winnersh Meadows what it is today – a fantastic place to visit for people wanting to walk their dogs, children to play and for adults to exercise on the inventive equipment or just visit to admire the orchard and areas of meadow grasses where thousands of bulbs have been planted.”

The presentation on Wednesday, November 7, came as a complete surprise to the NAG chair, who thought she was passing the borough mayor a framed photograph from her exhibition at Wokingham Library to donate to his chosen charity the Link Visiting Scheme.
