Farmers' 'advertising turkey' ruined by vandals

By Jon Nurse
November 27, 2012

Dejected farmers are clearing up a mess after a large ‘advertising turkey’ was ‘sabotaged’.

Roy and Jacqueline Maslin, the owners of Barkham Manor Farm, discovered a half a tonne bale of straw – which had been used to make the sign – on the ground on Sunday, November 11.

Mrs Maslin explained: “We had a huge turkey sign made from half a bale secured with a strap and strapped to a trailer.

“Someone has cut the strap and tried to roll the turkey off.

“It’s all broken.

“My husband has been ill and he really struggled to make the turkey to advertise our turkey sales.”

The farmers called the vandalism a “nuisance” but are determined to make the best of their Barkham Road business.

“We are a family-run farm and have been here for four or five years now,” Mrs Maslin said.

“Some people don’t want us to make a success of it.

“We have had a lot of people against us but also lots supporting us.”
