Tory candidate Anthony Stansfeld wins PCC election
By Paul CassellNovember 16, 2012
Tory candidate Anthony Stansfeld had won the election to become the Thames Valley’s first Police and Crime Commissioner.
The West Berkshire councillor beat Labour's Tim Starkey after securing a total of 94,238 votes at Gateway Conference Centre in Aylesbury.
The election used the supplementary voting system, meaning electors were given the chance to vote for a first and then a second choice candidate.
Mr Stansfeld led in the first round after gaining 76, 011 votes but did not have an overall majority leading to a second round of voting.
Voters whose first preference had been eliminated then had their second preference counted and these were added to the first round totals to decide the winner.
The turnout across the Thames Valley was just 13.3 per cent with 226,512 people going to the polls.
Following his win, Mr Stansfeld tweeted: "Thank you so much for everyone who took the opportunity to vote for me, I feel honoured to have been elected the first PCC for Thames Valley."

PS - At least he can now afford a visit to a hairdresser to sort out the hairdo - or is it a wig?

If elected as the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Anthony pledges:
To reduce crime and drive up detection rates. To maintain the balance between urban and rural policing.
To ensure that the Police budget is targeted effectively. To protect vulnerable people. To ensure the Police act firmly and fairly, using good judgement to deal with the public politely, gaining their respect and acting with integrity.
Radical stuff isn't it ?
Surely that lots already written into the Polices remit

Maybe he can set the ball rolling by at the least halving his exhorbitant fee.
But we all know that won't happen.
An interesting little gem from the PM today. I wonder if this is really about the public outcry against the PCC farce?

And lets not forget that the "election" cost £14 PER VOTE CAST. and only 4.5% of the population voted for him .. meaning that 95% voted for someone else ... or didnt bother voting. Lets give the Conservative coalition Government the boot!

What this is all about, is the Governmint installing a firewall between the Home Office and the Police, so that when, next year, crime rates start going up again (after a decade or so of then going down) they can say "Oooh it's not our fault, talk to your PCC!" While imposing 10 - 20 - 30% cuts across the board.
Comrades, we are being stitched up, again.
So why did only 13% vote?
Because the candidates (with a 5 grand deposit to find) couldn't afford to send any information out - did you get any?
So why are we surprised that we had no info to base our vote on?
