Ruling due on plans for home on farmland

November 14, 2012

A decision on whether to build a home on farmland is due to be made tonight.

Roy Maslin, owner of Barkham Manor Farm, applied to Wokingham Borough Council to build a three-bedroom home with a double garage for an agricultural worker to replace a mobile home.

The plans received 16 letters of objection and Barkham Parish Council strongly objects to the plans as the land is an Area of Special Landscape Importance.

The meeting takes place at the civic offices, in Shute End, from 7pm.

Tell them it's Reading University land then he can ride roughshod over everyone.

A local council that has approved plans for hundreds of houses to be built on farm land surrounding the town will of course reject this plan for a single building. After all there is no sense in encouraging a farmer to make his business more efficient when they will require the land for mass housing in about ten years time.
