Village fun run raises £3,500

November 13, 2012

Village charities are cashing in from an inaugural fun run that exceeded expectations.

More than three hundred runners raced around The Piggott School’s grounds in Wargrave last month and raised more than £3,500 for Twyford Charities Together – a union of five of the village’s charities including the newly added Camp Mohawk.

Penny Feathers, chair of trustees for Twyford Age Concern, accepted a cheque of £500 for the charities from Round & About magazine’s Chris Savage which was made in profit from the event’s programme.

Gordon Storey, of Twyford Village Partnership which organised the fun run, said: “To raise that amount of money in our first year is incredible.

“It’s been a great success and I look forward to doing it again on October 15 next year.”
