Runners out in force for Parkrun scheme
November 02, 2012
Runners came out in force for the start of a new fitness scheme.
More than 140 competitors ran a 5km route around Woodford Park for the start of the Parkrun scheme.
Woodley town mayor Councillor Ray Duncan joined the event’s volunteers to wave on entrants for the start of the weekly runs.
The free scheme is for runners of all abilities, followed by a coffee at the Oakwood Centre’s Park Café.
Entrants need to register in advance to receive a personal barcode. Visit www.parkrun.org.uk/woodley/home or email WoodleyHelpers@parkrun.com to volunteer.

parkruns are all over the country, and several overseas. The one in Reading, (alongside the Thames near david Lloyd centre) has been running for a few years, others in Basingstoke & Newbury.
They really are very enjoyable events, you can choose just how much you want to be involved in the social side, or just turn up, run and go home.
Very important to register before hand and bring along your barcode.
