Make sure you have your flu jab this winter

By Becky Barnes
October 26, 2012

Pregnant women and over 65s are encouraged to have the flu jab this winter.

People at increased risk of severe illness if they catch flu include those with long term conditions such as diabetes, kidney and liver disease, and with disorders like multiple sclerosis.

Pat Riordan, director of public health at NHS Berkshire East, said: “We urge everyone in the high risk groups to contact their GP practice for details of their flu vaccination programme.

“These people are at higher risk from flu which can result in serious complications, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, and can make existing conditions much worse.”
