Elderly woman injured in purse robbery

An elderly woman suffered a fractured hip when she was pushed over by a man who then stole her purse.

The woman, who is her eighties, had gone outside her house in St Francis Close, Crowthorne at about 1pm yesterday.

She returned to the communal area of the flats and was pushed over by a man who then stole her purse.

He is white, in his late thirties or early forties, around 5ft 8ins tall and of broad build.

Investigating officer Det Con Alex Hillan, of Bracknell CID, said: “This was a cowardly assault on an elderly and vulnerable woman in her own home in order to steal her purse.

“I would like to speak to anyone who saw a man matching the description in the local area, as well as anyone with information which could assist our inquiry.
