Milkman taken to hospital after lorry crash

October 23, 2012

A milkman has been taken to hospital after his float crashed into the back of a parked lorry in Thames Valley Park at the end of the A329(M) in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters had to contend with gallons of spilt milk and broken glass as they freed the driver who was trapped in the cab of the milk float after colliding with the back of the articulated lorry.

The driver was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with suspected head injuries.

Teams from Wokingham Road, Caversham Road and a heavy rescue unit from Dee Road were sent to the incident which happened in Thames Valley Park Drive at around 2am.

Crew manager Che Scott, from Wokingham Road fire station, said: "We aren't sure how it happened and it's not for us to speculate. All we know is that he was driving along one minute and trapped under the back of the lorry the next.

"There was a lot of milk and a lot of broken glass."

I hope the driver is alright but all i can picture is the Father Ted Speed 3 episode! Are we sure that Dougal wasn't behind this?

I'm not reading all of these comments. Can they be condensed?

Let's hope that the milkman's digits on his feet were not damaged so much that they had to be amputated, thus leading him to be shunned by the community. There are so many people in this country who are Lactose Intollerant.

Now how does a milk float that travels at 5mph crash into a stationary lorry???
