Reading buses has apologised for delays on routes caused by roadworks and a crash.
A traffic accident last Thursday, October 4 forced buses to be re-routed while roadworks in Lower Earley and Shinfield are delaying services on the claret 20, 20a, and 21 and on the red 9 service for up to 40 minutes.
Resurfacing work on the Black Boy roundabout at Shinfield are due to last until Sunday, October 14, causing red number 9 buses to run up to 20 minutes late at peak times.
Passengers on the claret 20, 20a and 21 routes have been told to expect delays of up to 10 minutes in the rush hours because of the closure of Mill Lane until October 27.
The same services could also face delays of up to 30 minutes in peak traffic times until November 12 on Wilderness Road because of work being carried out to replace gas mains in the area.
A spokesman for Reading Buses said: “During these periods our dedicated control team will be working extremely hard to keep the buses moving and on time, but with the delays already seen and the way the traffic is, we would still expect delays.
“We ask for your patience during these works as, unlike cars, we cannot take short cuts down the side streets.”
