Karters raise cash for Help the Heroes

By Jon Nurse
October 08, 2012

Go-kart drivers whizzed around Woodley’s Headley Road East track and raised almost £300 for Help for Heroes (H4H).

Eleven staff and regulars from The Bull & Chequers pub in Woodley Green took on the H4H Kart Challenge at the Premier Karting centre on Sunday, September 9.

Fastest qualifier Josh Wright, of Knowle Road, raced from the back of the grid to complete 93 laps and take the chequered flag in first.

The bartender, 20, said: “It was a really exciting day. It was a good laugh for everyone on the track.

“It got quite competitive.

“Tim Stanfield, one of our bar staff, was crossing the circuit’s bridge when landlord Gavin Knight spun him out and he ended up coming down it backwards.”
