Duffield Road closed for six months for bridge worksBy Jon Nurse
October 01, 2012
A six month road closure started today while works take place on a railway bridge.
Duffield Road is closed between its junctions with Pound Lane and Copse Mead as contractors work to electrify the line.
A diversion is in place via Pound Lane, Butts Hill Road and Church Road.
Network Rail is electrifying its rail link between Maidenhead and Cardiff and needs the 120-year-old bridge to provide at least 60cm more clearance to allow for overhead line equipment.
The works are estimated to be completed by Thursday, April 4, 2013.
Access remains in place for residents and businesses within the boundary of the closure.
