A Swallowfield man is setting off on an 1,800 mile driving challenge today.

Graham King and pal Lee Marwich, from Winchester, will drive to Italy and back in a 32-year-old Austin Allegro Vanden Plas in just five days as part of the Screwball Challenge.

The duo, set off from The Bull Inn, Arborfield, at 2pm, are raising money for the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre and a Winchester-based Down’s syndrome charity.

Also taking part are Arborfield pair Simon Hasler and Dean Chamberlain, and Craig Butler, from Shinfield, and his son Grant. Visit www.justgiving.com/Graham-King544.

My Dad had an Austion Allegro. That was a long time ago when he used to work as a proof reader for the local rag.
