Second fire in two days outside Waingels College

By Jon Nurse
September 18, 2012

Firefighters dealt with a second blaze in as many days near Waingels College this afternoon.

A crew from Wokingham Road fire station was sent to Norris Green, opposite the school, at 3.45pm to find some bushes on fire.

Crew manager Che Scott said: "We arrived to find an area of bushes about a metre square was alight just off a footpath. This is the second incident this week of a fire starting at the end of the school day near the college.

"We can't determine if the fires are deliberate or not, but we will wait to see if something will happen again tomorrow."

The crew attended the scene for around 30 minutes and used a hose reel to put out the blaze.

Yesterday a crew from Caversham Road fire station was sent to Headley Road East where a tree had caught on fire.

Crew manager Scott added: "The incident happened at a similar time and the tree was well alight when they arrived with quite a few kids watching."

Nothing to do with those end-of-term 'riots' that school is renowned for then?

If a bank was robbed two days in a row, do you think they would "wait and see if something will happen tomorrow". Arson carries a maximum sentence of life, hope they catch the little attention seeking brat (s) and set an example.

Like the joke C8.
