1970s camper van greets shoppers in Crowthorne

By Jonathan Low
September 14, 2012

Staff and shoppers at the Co-op store in Crowthorne were met by a 1970s’ VW camper.

The camper was at the High Street store to promote the United Nations International Year of Co-operatives and to highlight the contribution the co-operative sector makes in the world. Shoppers were given the opportunity to win £100 in Co-operative shopping vouchers during the camper’s visit in August. The supermarket chain’s vintage campervan is touring the UK spreading the message of how co-operatives make the world smile.

There are 1.4 million co-operatives across the globe, from farming to football, healthcare to housing, co-operatives generate employment, aid education, reduce poverty and give their members a say in how their business is run.
