Fire service supports three safety campaigns

By Laura Herbert
September 13, 2012

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is supporting three safety campaigns this month.

Gas Safety Week and Chimney Fire Safety Week, which launched on Monday and run until Sunday, aim to raise awareness of gas safety and the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning from unsafe central heating, cookers and fires.

Last year, the service dealt with 93 chimney fires and the national campaign aims to promote the importance of regularly sweeping chimneys and keeping them clean and safe to use.

RBFRS is also supporting Electrical Safety Week from Monday, September 24, to Sunday, September 30, which will focus on student safety as thousands of university students will move into rented accommodation and halls of residence, including the University of Reading’s Bulmershe campus.
