Pinewood Centre VisitBritain plans put on hold

By Jonathan Low
September 11, 2012

Plans for the Pinewood Centre site to gain accreditation to VisitBritain have been put on hold by councillors at Wokingham Without Parish Council.

They were part of the site’s rebranding scheme to promote the area in Crowthorne to new visitors, and it includes having brown signs directing people to the area.

Parish Council chairman Phil Metcalfe said: “It cost a lot more than we had expected.

“A brown sign would cost nearly £300 a year, every year, so we’re not particularly in favour of it at the moment.”

Accreditation would also enable the site to display the VisitBritain logo on buildings and have references on its website.

The idea will be reassessed by the parish council at a later date if necessary, should new signage prove ineffective.
