Woodley vandalism leads to £3,000 town council bill

Vandalism to town council buildings this summer has run up a bill of more than £3,000.

Persistent damage to the Oakwood Centre and Woodford Park Leisure Centre has left Woodley Town Council will a bill for repairs.

Patio doors at the Oakwood Centre were smashed on two separate weekends in July, costing £1,600. A broken swing in the Woodford Park Leisure Centre’s play area on Saturday, August 11, cost £800 to restore and a broken window at the tea room of the leisure centre left the council with a bill for £250 in July, while £80 of damaged was caused to cricket sight screens. In June, a damaged door sensor at the Oakwood Centre cost around £500 to repair.
