Four men have been arrested after a raid on a scrap metal merchant in Winnersh on Friday.
Thames Valley Police carried out the raid on the merchants in Mole Road, which has not been named, at around 8.45am,
The men are aged 21, 26, 29 and 63, and have been arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods.
The sting was carried out in relation to the theft of £19,000 worth of BT cabling stolen overnight between Monday, June 18, and Tuesday, June 19, from Hungerford Lane in Twyford.
Officers from the Winnersh Neighbourhood Team, Wokingham Local Police Area, Wokingham CID and the prisoner handling unit, as well as staff from BT and the Environment Agency, all took part in the operation.
PC Karen Chandler, from the neighbourhood policing team, said: “The warrant was part of a robust operation targeting suspects thought to be involved in the commission of stolen metals and cables, all of which have a huge impact on the local community and utility providers to the Wokingham LPA.”
