Award for top psychologist Simon Proudlock

August 24, 2012

A senior psychologist has won an award from a national society for innovative therapy techniques he introduced to Wokingham.

Simon Proudlock, a principal psychologist for urgent care with the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, won the British Psychological Society’s annual practice prize.

The honour was awarded for his innovative work in solution focused therapy that he introduced in 2008.

He introduced the model, a type of talking therapy which focuses on the present and the future rather than on the past, to children’s teams and occupational therapists both outside and inside the trust.

Mr Proudlock, who lives in Reading, said: “It’s successful because people like to talk about things they’re good at.

“I’m trying to incorporate it into different ways of work.

“It’s popular in schools and a variety of different health and social care settings.”
