Torchbearer Kim James brings Olympic spirit to Merrydale Nursery
August 16, 2012
Little movers leapt to glory as Merrydale Nursery in Wokingham seized the Olympic spirit.
Torchbearer Kim James, from Bracknell, fresh from her adventure carrying the flame in Dover, dropped by the nursery in London Road.
The children learned all about the torch relay and raced over hurdles before receiving medals and certificates for their efforts.
“They absolutely loved it,” nursery manager Kayleigh Gardner said. “They learned about the different colours of the rings and about some of the countries in this summer’s Olympics.
“They were really excited to see the torch, especially because many of them had gone to see it in Bracknell.
“They recognised the uniform when she arrived. We are very lucky.”
