Air Cadet Jessica Vickers campaigns for Treats for Canine Troops

August 09, 2012

A Woodley Air Cadet is on a mission to support the four-legged British heroes deployed to Afghanistan.

Jessica Vickers is sending well-deserved treats to British sniffer dogs working in the warzone and is encouraging others to do the same.

She feels the animals need to be rewarded for the long hours they spend in difficult and often dangerous conditions with their dog handlers and supports Treats for Canine Troops.

The 13-year-old said: “The army provides the basics to dogs – I wanted to do something to make their lives a bit nicer while they’re working so hard.

“Small things can make a big difference and it’s good to be able to use my spare time to do something positive.”

Squadron Commander, Warrant Officer Dan Twigg said: “It’s great to see one of our cadets using her initiative to help.

“Vickers saw that there was a need, worked out what she could do and got on with it. I admire her practical approach and am very pleased to support her efforts.”
