A charity auction staged at a Berkshire Health Club has raised £5,000 for charity.
The event at Pulse 8 Health and Fitness Club was hosted by Olympic torchbearer Sally Wilson, and is the latest venture in her bid to raise funds for her chosen charity.
The 100 members and guests who attended the evening also had the opportunity to hold the Olympic torch, which Sally had carried with such pride through Burnham, on July 10.
Wokingham-based Sally set out to raise £40,000 for Help for Heroes two years ago, after undergoing serious back surgery, and while recovering she met amputees returning from Afghanistan.
“Carrying the Olympic torch is something I will never forget and after finishing my 300-metre jog I was delighted to hear a live rendition of Chariots of Fire.
“I was even prouder when I realised it was being played by my father’s orchestra, the Slough Philharmonic.
“To see the proud faces of my family and friends will last with me forever.
“With the fund now standing at £30,820, I cannot thank all those who have contributed enough.
“The auction evening, organised by Pulse 8 and supported by The Wokingham Times, was a huge success, and again I would like to thank everyone for their support, especially the companies who donated auction items.”
