Golden BMWs rolling into Reading

July 09, 2012

A fleet of glittering cars will be bringing the Midas touch to the town ahead of the Olympic Torch.

A convoy of Golden BMWs will be rolling into Reading today to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games.

BMW is making a pledge to ‘Brighten Your Day’ by offering free lifts to local people to help make their day that little bit easier. If you need help with the school run, a lift to the supermarket or simply fancy a glittering arrival to work, then the Golden BMW may be able to assist.

To be in with a chance, email GoldenBMWcomp@Synergy-Sponsorship.com saying why you need help or nominating someone you feel deserves a golden lift.

As the Golden BMWs arrive in Reading, they will also be giving everyone an opportunity to win tickets to the London 2012 Games.Passers-by simply need to spot the car, snap a picture and share it via twitter (#GoldenBMW), facebook, email or the BMW website (www.bmw.co.uk/gold). Each day one lucky person will win a pair of London 2012 tickets.

There is also chance to win the ‘golden Prize’, a BMW for a whole year by entering a second competition online. Details can be found on www.bmw.co.uk/gold or the BMW UK facebook page.

As official automotive partner of London 2012, BMW is touring the UK with a fleet of unique Golden BMWs for 70 days to celebrate London 2012. You can track the Golden BMW convoy on twitter by following #GoldenBMW.

This is a sick and stupid story, ... but I always think it's funny how they don't like to use their full name: Bayerische Motoren Werke.

bmw...........mmmmmmmmm........... thanks for all my hard work.......... 17 years and just get told to clock out! I try to scratch every bmw i see now. RDS till i die, South Bank

RDS, I guess we share a common story about BMW GB (see my previous post).

All of the £millions sponsership that they have pumped into the Olympics to get their name to the forefont. Meantime, they couldn't raid the piggy bank to give their own (discarded) loyal subjects some sort of a send-off.

I deserve a lift to work because I am exhausted having tried to calculate the carbon foot print of having the torch in Reading ;-)

I thought only doctors were allowed to drive BMWs - too much money and not enough imagination. Useful to be able to park where you please, though, and great for bus lanes.

I dunno, that prize doesn't sound too bad. Never liked showing people where I'd go at roundabouts, and that two second rule is so very tiresome.

Gimme that BMW for free and I'll never have to use my indicators again!

Silly season is upon us. Has the GR Editor gone on holiday and left the cleaning lady to write copy?

A real shame that the "official automotive partner of London 2012" made no effort to "Brighten the Day" of the 150 or so, people made redundant from their Bracknell plant less than a month ago.

Not even a farewell drink or party....just clock-out on your way out. No kudos or money to made from common courtesy, I guess.
