Chance for young mentor to learn teaching skills

July 06, 2012

A rare chance is available for young people to train to help children learn to read.

Assisting Berkshire Children to read (ABC to read) is running a short course for 16 to 24-year-olds.

The charity is using £710 it was given from the Hilton 10K Giveaway last December to put on the course on Monday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 11, from 4pm to 8.30pm.

The course can lead to voluntary placements as reading mentors with schools in the area.

Priority will be given to people living, working or attending school or college within Reading borough.
