Sports clubs are offering taster sessions at a family fun day at Cantley Park next weekend.
Visitors will navigate Zorb balls through an inflatable obstacle course, shoot arrows in the archery range, and have a go at different sports at an Olympic-inspired event at the park in Twyford Road on Saturday, July 7.
The day, which runs from 10am to 3pm, is being organised by the sports and development unit at Wokingham Borough Council.
Councillor Angus Ross, executive member for the environment, said: “Clubs from across the borough representing as many sports as possible have been invited to come along and raise awareness about the wide range of sports and activities you can enjoy in the Wokingham borough.”
Football, water sports, basketball, cricket, tennis and hockey are some of the sports being represented at the event.
“The day is all about encouraging people to have-a-go at sports and activities they perhaps wouldn’t have considered before,” said Cllr Ross,
“We want people to have a thoroughly enjoyable time simply trying out new things, which we hope will go on to create a sporting legacy after the Games has finished.”
Refreshments and food are available to purchase throughout the day.
A raffle will be held in aid of The Link Visiting Scheme and Friends of Bridges local charities as well as Help for Heroes.
