Woman collides with lamp post at Winnersh crossroads

By Becky Barnes
June 30, 2012

A woman had to be cut from her car after she collided with a lamp post.

Wokingham and Wokingham Road firefighters were called to Winnersh crossroads at 9am this morning where a woman in her 30s had hit a post after turning from London Road onto Robin Hood Lane.

Fire crews had to remove the back seats from the Vauxhall Corsa in case the woman had any spinal injuries.

One lane of Robin Hood Lane was temporarily closed for half an hour.

A fire spokesman said the woman had been taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading as a precaution and the accident would have caused much more disruption had it been a weekday.

London Road, Winnersh. It's a very dangerous road. So dangerous in fact, that just by saying it's name out loud, bad things have been known to happen. Typically, by uttering it's name, a person is 45% more likely to get stuck in Land's End Ford, and 63% more likely to come a cropper in the Chequers Pub Car Park, or that 'other one' in Wokingham town centre. People of Winnersh are too superstitious to use the road's real name so they call it Reading Road instead.
