Workman collapses on building site

By Jon Nurse
June 26, 2012

A workman was carried off a building site by ambulance staff and firefighters after he collapsed at his work in Wokingham town centre this afternoon.

Wokingham fire station was called just after 3.30pm and sent a crew to the site in Woolf Drive where they requested an aerial appliance, a cage on an extended ladder, to help with their rescue.

The man is believed to have suffered a heart attack and was taken to hospital.

Watch manager Stephen Beard said: "The men decided to carry him on a stretcher and went down two sets of quite narrow stairs in the partially constructed building. Some of the workers deconstructed parts of the site to clear space and allow the stretcher to come through."
