Train station made safer for passengers

By Victoria Smith
June 13, 2012

Train passengers using Winnersh are to benefit from safety improvements after the facility received secure station accreditation.

The scheme, led by British Transport Police, is designed to recognise measures taken to improve station security.

Winnersh station is one of several South West Trains stations, including Ascot, to have achieved the secure mark this month.

Tim Shoveller, managing director of the South West Trains and Network Rail alliance said: “Although crime on the railways is at an all time low, we are always looking at ways to make trains and stations safer.”
