Bracknell shoppers get great customer service

Shoppers in Bracknell are well looked after by the town’s retail staff, according to a new survey.

Town centre landlord Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) has carried out an independent survey into service in the shops in Bracknell town centre.

More than 70 shops were visited of which 13 scored a perfect 100 per cent.

Results show 34 stores scored more than 90 per cent and staff at BRP say no shops performed below 50 per cent.

In the survey, BRP sent “mystery shoppers” to the stores, who then gave feedback on their experience.

Staff at the Body Shop were particularly praised after receiving a 100 per cent rating.

The report said staff there were “extremely helpful and full of enthusiasm” and that “nothing was too much trouble”.

Julie Goffin, a sales assistant in Iceland, was singled out for being “helpful, patient, chatty and demonstrating a good understanding of my needs”.

Another to be praised was Kelsey Dodds, of Marc Antoni, who was described as “a delight”.

The mystery shopper also said she was “positive and confident without being overwhelming”.

The survey said Brad Clarke, of Moss Bros, “looked the part and made me want to shop there again in the future”.

The shopper added that Brad was “endlessly patient and attentive and showed good knowledge throughout”.

Rob Morris, general manager of BRP, said: “Customer service is a vital part of the shopping experience and BRP is totally committed to helping retail staff deliver outstanding service to town centre shoppers.

“We are naturally delighted with the feedback given on many of the stores and it was particularly pleasing to read some of the superlatives on front line staff.

“They are worthy winners of our Service Star Awards.

“We hope that all stores will have been encouraged by the results of this round of feedback and look forward to recognising more of our talented Service Stars over the coming months.”

Yet again the long term market traders were not included. Call this a fair system? I don't think so. I used to be a mystery shopper for ove 10 years and so I know the crack. I personally believe there is better customer service from traders than large retail shops. Traders have to fight for their customers whereas in my experience, shop workers don't!

Just another example of the market being left out in the cold.

Of course we have to remember that the awards are effectively a self promotion to maintain value of BRP's properties I doubt they surveyed any retail outlets that they did not own.
