Green light for Jennett’s Park shops

May 31, 2012

Highly-anticipated plans for three new shops on a housing estate have been given the go ahead by Bracknell Forest Council.

Permission was given for the shops and 27 flats and houses to be built in Jennett’s Park at a planning meeting on Thursday, May 24.

Council planning officer Basia Polnik said that the shops would be a welcome addition to the facilities, which include a new school.

The shops would be restricted to A1 retail use, meaning a business such as a takeaway would not be allowed without planning permission.

Councillor Michael Gbadebo raised concerns about the lack of zebra crossing from the car park to the shops.

James Turner, principal engineer for Bracknell Forest Council’s development management, said “The visibility is more than adequate in both directions.

“If there is a need, it can be developed at a later point.”

The building work is part of a master plan approved by councillors in 2005, which will include another pub in the future.

A primary school and community centre opened last year.

Could really do with a post office even if its just a little one based inside a One-Stop or something, although could be a long shot in the current climate
