Community forum for Woodley housing
May 29, 2012
A community forum will give townspeople a say on new housing developments around Woodley.
Wokingham Borough Council has organised forums in areas facing large developments.
Councillor Angus Ross, executive member for strategic highways and planning, said: “It’s important to engage with the town council and the community so we can ensure that new services and infrastructure are up to standard. It’s essential to have a two-way dialogue so everyone feels involved.
“In the first meeting we will discuss what we will try to achieve together and find out what people feel is important to consider over the successive years.”
The first forum meeting for Woodley will be on Wednesday, July 18, with the location to be announced.
The meeting will be attended by representatives from the town and borough council and invited local community groups. It will not be a public meeting. The forum is likely to take place every two or three months.
Josie Wragg, council strategic commissioner for communities, said: “We have already had a forum meeting for Arborfield and it worked very well.
“It’s important to integrate existing communities with these new communities, so the forum will work closely with developers and builders to deal with practical issues that will affect residents.”

Far too many developments going up with an infrastructure incapable of dealing with it.... Trying to get out of Woodley at peak times is a good case in point. God alone knows what it will be like if and when the Sandford Lane development goes ahead.
The shopping centre is a mess, seemingly only capable of supporting betting shops, charity shops and takeaways. What happened to the butchers, greengrocers and the like?
It's a real shame.... Woodley has changed so much over the years, (which is to be expected) but not for the better it seems!
