Woodley Marks & Spencer plans go on show

May 24, 2012

Plans to build a new Marks & Spencer store on a former car showroom site in Woodley are to go on display next week.

The retail giant’s proposals will go on display in the Bader Room at the Oakwood Centre, Headley Road, from 1pm until 8pm on Tuesday, May 29, and from 10am until 5pm on Wednesday, May 30.

M&S already has a Simply Food shop at the BP garage in Shepherds Hill.

The new store would be built on the other side of the road from the current site if the application is successful, creating 95 full and part time jobs.

Great proposal in terms of removing an eyesore, providing a good quality retail outlet and fitting in with the neighbourhood. Council bound to find some reason to object!

Thank goodness for that. Now when are they going to sort out the old garage in Wokingham Road opposite the George? What an eyesore that is.

Will it last longer than the Caversham M&S?

Mr Pance, I think it was Volvo - on the A4 roundabout at the top of the hill.

I'm not overly familiar with that area, is that the old Chevrolet(?) showroom?
