Antique fair organiser sold after 25 years

The organiser of a monthly antique fair in Wokingham is retiring after more than 20 years.

Pat Wyatt has been organising the fair held on the first Sunday of the month at St Crispin’s Leisure Centre in London Road for 25 years.

The fair held on Sunday was the last to be organised by Mrs Wyatt, from Earley.

She said: “My family has helped me and they were originally going to take it over, but two of the stallholders have been regulars and they are going to keep it going.

“When I became organiser the fair was already running but it was a very small fair and I was a stallholder there.

“The lady who ran it was American and she was going back home so out of the blue I took it over and it grew bigger and bigger.

“It used to be held in the small hall and now we use the bigger hall as well.”

The fair now attracts an average of around 83 stallholders.

Mrs Wyatt continued: “I am standing down as the organiser, but I will still have a stall there.”

From now on fellow stallholders Peter Reynolds and Linda Steele will run the fairs.
