More heavy rain on the way to Berkshire

May 09, 2012

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of South Eastern England including, Bracknell, Reading and Wokingham.

According to the agency persistent heavy rain is expected to spread across southern areas of England and Wales later today and into the first part of tomorrow with by strong to gale force winds in some areas.

Twenty to 30mm of rain is likely to fall quite widely across the region with up to 50mm in places. Winds will strengthen and may gust to 40mph or more in exposed places

The rain is likely to bring difficult driving conditions with risks of localised flooding.

BTW, "Ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out" is a rhubarb growers traditional convention.

It therefore suits you. :)

"I had a gust of 16.4 mph a short while ago." ... out of your bottom, no doubt, like the rest of your comments :p

Oh dear @C8H10N4O2 has a broken humorous bone.

Best be sensible.

Yes it is raining .... I say isn't the weather terrible this time of year? Ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out.

I should perhaps employ C8H10N4O2 as my editor.

I had a gust of 16.4 mph a short while ago.

Zeus controlled the weather in mythology...as you seem to imagine Prof Shepherd can do.

Correct my previous comment to "fool or troll".

Thank you to my loyal reader @C8H10N4O2 Please tell others - I am here all week

Hang-on ... it was YOU who first mooted that the Prof is not a mythological deity with the name, Zeus - clearly, otherwise he would be called The Professor Zeus ... surely? Do try to keep "on-topic".

   @deejaykay "wet wet wet"

It seems like it has been raining as long as "Love Is All Around" was at number one.

Thanks for the "heads-up" @C8H10N4O2 however was Zeus not a climate expert?

Still think the chap should account for his time - weather is perfectly atrocious around Reading

Wait just a minute - on April 30th the headline was "Climate expert joins University of Reading"

Not a very auspicious start for Professor Ted Shepherd who has been appointed Grantham Chair in Climate Science at the Department of Meteorology and the Walker Institute for Climate System Research.

Would be handy if the very Prof. Ted could bring us up to speed with exactly what he has been doing to the weather around Reading, since he arrived. If he needs a hand, my youngest would be happy to assist in the design of a Cloud Zapper Ray Pistol.
