Get neighbourhood police updates as a text message

By Laura Herbert
May 08, 2012

People in Wokingham can receive information directly from their local neighbourhood police teams via the Thames Valley Alert System.

The new system allows anyone who signs up to chose what updates they receive and how they would like to receive it.

A new option includes receiving information via text, while landline and email messages will still be available.

Users can filter the updates they receive by specifying the priority level of the messages.

Deputy Chief Constable Francis Habgood said: “Thames Valley Alert replaces the old community messaging system, which was outdated and failed to take advantage of social media and mobile technology.

“If someone wishes to receive only our most important updates, they can do so. And if they want to keep in touch with everything going on in their community, that option is available to them.”
