May 04, 2012
A house in Woodley was badly damaged by fire last night.
Fire crews from Whitley Wood and Wokingham Road fire stations used four breathing apparatus and two jets to douse the blaze in a first floor bedroom at a house in Welford Road.
One young man was in the house when the fire broke out but was safely outside by the time the fire crews arrived.
Crew manager Mark Crawford of Wokingham Road Fire Station said: "The rest of the family were not in the house at the time."
He said the fire appeared to have been caused by an electrcial fault and had gutted the bedroom and caused smoke damage on the upper floor.
The alarm was raised at 8.17pm last night and the fire was put out by 9.11pm.
