Have your say to help make Whitley a safer place

May 03, 2012

Safer Reading Partnership is offering people who live in South Whitley the opportunity to highlight the three crime and anti-social behaviour issues which concern them most in a bid to tackle criminal activity.

Residents can do this by filling in surveys at various shops in the area, as well as at Whitley Wood Community Centre in Swallowfield Drive. It is also available online.

They can then vote on the top priorities at one of two public meetings, both at Whitley Wood Community Centre, on May 29, 2pm, and May 31, 7pm.

The results will be made available to residents and a problem-solving action group, made up of police, members of the local authority and representatives from the community, will be launched.

@Whitleyhomeowner. Ignore them. They're really just jealous because they all live in chaversham or coley.

I am actually quite shocked at the level of abuse aimed at Whitley in these comments and the tone - "shouldn't be allowed to breed" "unable to read or write" "scummy people" - these very offensive comments say far far more about the intelligence (lack of) and levels of decency (none) of the people submitting these comments than about the people who live in Whitley. Shame on you.

Increase the police presence in Whitley...they'll catch criminals as they return home from their "jobs".

Set-up road blocks to check vehicles and contents.

Reduce rent allowance so the residents have to move out of the area.

Not my ideas - how the conservatives will deal with it.

Whitley is paradise compared to Wokingham and Oxford Roads.

Amazing isn't it? The word `Whitley' appears in any story and the same old voices come out of the woodwork with what are actually quite offensive comments. I think some of you must have very sad lives and nothing better to do with your time. Or do you just think yourselves better than everyone else?

Hey, not all Whitley people are bad. It is a big area and some streets are quite nice with good people living there. I do not like it when you make comments like this, it is really upsetting.

Anti-social behaviour : taking Council Tax but actually doing nothing with it but pay five-figure salaries to chums.
